This site is for collectors and admirers of dolls of all types and sizes.
Here we hope to provide information and photos that will be helpful to all.

   We are especially dedicated to the large Playpal and companion
 dolls that were made in the 1950's and 1960's. 

    These dolls were about the size of a 2 or 3 year old child,
ranging is size from 28 to 40 inches, and were very popular. 

   There is already a lot of information available on the Patti Playpal
 family of dolls that were manufactured by the Ideal Toy Company
 but there is very little information about the other large dolls
 that were made during the same time by other companies. 

   Many of these dolls have some markings from their manufacturer
and many have no markings at all.
 It has been said that Ideal sold doll parts to other manufacturers,
and many of the other manufacturers just pirated the designs.

  Some manufacturers ( Horsman for example )  had their own unique designs
and usually marked them
but many companies did not find it necessary to properly mark their dolls.   

     As time goes by, and with the help and input from other doll collectors, 
we may possibly be able to increase the little bit of information
that can be found on these dolls.

    We are hoping this site will be of some help to anyone
 who is interested in these beautiful treasures from the past.
